Budget

Stevens Institute of Technology is providing the Water Harvesting System Engineering Design VIII group a budget of $700 to spend on the project. It it very important that the team prepares a list of materials and prices needed to successfully complete the project ahead of time in order to prevent any financial issues.

Bill of Materials

The team created a list of raw materials/prices needed for the Alpha Prototype which is shown below. The group was conservative when pricing the items so that there is room for adjustments/errors at later phases of the project. The estimated total, $461, is about half of the provided budget, leaving the other half of the budget for the improved Beta Prototype.

Our System

The Water Harvesting System is created to pull water from the atmosphere in hot and humid climates such as Bangladesh and Mexico. The contrast between the hot atmosphere and the cold surface of our system induces a phase change from water vapor to liquid water. By moving the hot and humid air into our system of cooled coils, the humid air condenses on the coils, creating water. The water droplets accumulate, and are collected, treated, and stored for human consumption.
