The team recently chose to move forward with the peltier plate design after creating a concept selection matrix. They are currently working on completing the technical analysis portion of the design as well as preparing the Phase 2 Presentation for Tuesday. Approximately every two weeks, the team will update this page to include progress and changes made involving the Water Harvesting System senior design project. Stay tuned!

After Phase 2 presentations, there was feedback for the technical analysis. The main issue was that the team did not account for the latent heat when the water vapor condenses. The design needed to include this heat transfer to ensure that the system will still fall below the dew point for the water to condensate. The team updated their technical analysis, shown below:

The team made a lot of progress this week. They completed the technical analysis for the water treatment, accumulated the materials necessary to create their alpha prototypes, and started building. After testing the prototype, they realized that the peltier plates were not cooling the pipe efficiently. The team did an analysis on solid works and realized that halfing the pipe length and placing peltier plates on both ends would cool the pipe below dew point temperature. The water treatment alpha prototype was also created as a simple water filter, which demonstrated proof of concept.
